Web 2.0 in Education Notes

Since about 2007, I have been trying to use Web 2.0 technologies in the classroom and as a way to communicate with people. I find them easy to use and appropriate (given that email is broken) to communicate with friends and family that are far away.

One of the first presentations I gave was at a workshop that we organized at Villanova. The goal of the workshop was to create a community of CS Educators that are looking to change the way that we teach CS. My pitch to them was to get on the Web 2.0. Students live there, we need to move there. Here are the slides.

At SIGCSE 08, I led a group of professors conducting a workshop on Using Web 2.0 in the classroom, with a particular focus in Computer Science. Here are the slides for that one.

On Feburary 28, 2009, I was part of a panel on campus on "Teaching Using Technology". My particular contribution was on how to communicate with students more effectively. I focused on the use of Twitter. The slides are shown below, and the handout linked here.
